Today, you Americans will vote in an election that is certain to be contested by increasingly extreme Republicans. With that in mind, you must feel safe in the knowledge that Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has sent over its largest ever group of observers, to ensure that no foul play is involved. They will be able to refute any accusations of cheating.

Naturally, though, this will depend on who the OSCE has sent across the pond. This is where I unfortunately have to sound the alarm about Bjorn Soder, one of the politicians from Sweden. He is the chairman of the Swedish delegation, and he is also a long-standing representative of the Sweden Democrats, a racist party that up until recently could be described as fringe Nazis. In our most recent election, however, they got just over 20 percent of the vote, making them an essential partner for the new conservative government.

Consider yourselves warned. This man is not an unbiased judge. On the contrary, Bjorn Soder is convinced that ”liberal” forces are trying to manipulate democracy. But he loves Donald Trump.

”Fantastic to see the Swedish media’s reporting from the election in the USA. They all want so badly for Biden to win. I really hope they will be standing there tomorrow morning crying! These journalists who have deceived the Swedish people for years are pitiful,” he Tweeted right at the climax of the presidential election 2020.

He then, of course, immediately bought into the lie that the election had been stolen from Trump:

”When Trump looked like he was going to win, hundreds of thousands of ballots in Biden’s favor suddenly appeared. Republican observers were not allowed to review the ballots and all of a sudden Biden won,” Bjorn Soder Tweeted.

So how much does Soder love Donald Trump? Enough that he – along with other Sweden Democrats – nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. A decision he stood by even after the Capitol was stormed.

At the same time, his party has been busy schmoozing all the most extreme Republican organizations, with a view to creating a Transatlantic alliance of like-minded people.

Don’t for a second trust Bjorn Soder to be an unbiased observer. He is as conspiratorial as your most radicalized stop-the-steal crazies. He even talks about George Soros and globalists as a threat, a clearly antisemitic trope. Incidentally, he has previously said that it is practically impossible to combine a Jewish identity with a Swedish one. And just like your Republicans, the Sweden Democrats have struggled to maintain a healthy distance from the Kremlin’s agenda.

In short, we have sent you a fundamentalist ethno-nationalist who dreams of getting a pat on the head from Donald Trump. Think of him as a MAGA supporter and do not trust a word he says.

This is what he looks like – Björn Söder is the one without the fanciful hairstyle. That would be Dutch right-wing extremist Geert Wilders, who is apparently also there to protect your democracy.

On behalf of all sensible Swedes – we’re sorry, USA.

Please send him home as soon as possible.
